I was first diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome when I was in my twenties. My menses cycle was so painful and I slowly starting to put on weight without making any changes in my diet. Then suddenly my menses cycle stopped. 

I immediately went to the doctor.  She did a sonogram of my ovaries and saw tons of small cysts all over my ovaries and noticed that my ovaries had become enlarged. Her diagnosis was PCOS and she handed me a pamphlet about this debilitating condition.   I pointed out how young I was and asked her if it was caused by my diet. She said it was not and proceeded to prescribe medication. I left her office feeling helpless and depressed with no direction. 

I found myself wondering around a health food store, using their free library to look up my condition.  I was overwhelmed but then I started researching every nutrition school in New York City and decided to take matters into my own hands.  I knew nutrition and lifestyle played a very big part in my PCOS, so I enrolled in a Nutrition School that encompasses both diet and lifestyle. After only three months of study at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition I began to have regular periods again and the pain that I used to feel during my menses cycle suddenly went away. 

Soon after that the weight started coming off on its own without my even trying. 

Six months later I went back to my doctor after changing my diet and lifestyle and she said she had never seen anything like it before. My ovaries had gone back to normal size and I had no more cysts on your ovaries.
